Horrible Bosses at Movies West

We decided to spend a quiet Tuesday evening at the theater watching Horrible Bosses.   Having heard, and read, decent reviews for this movie my expectations were high.
We arrived a little early to the Movies West theater on Coors, and had ample time to purchase the tickets and a bucket of popped corn.  For some reason they weren’t selling tickets from the ticket booth out front, nor were we able to purchase the tickets from the self-service kiosk inside the lobby.  We had to stand in the line at the end of the snack counter, as we learned the self-serve kiosk does not dispense tickets for movies rated ‘R’.  I decided to stand in line for the popcorn, and my brother-in-law went to purchase the tickets.  After a short wait, he was denied the purchase due to the ‘R’ rating, as one of the tickets was for my 16 year-old son.  My wife moved over to purchase the tickets and the manager operating the ticket sales counter asked, “And who are these tickets for?”  My wife responded, “You just watched my brother walk back to the three of us, so I’m pretty sure you know exactly who the tickets are for.”  I love the fact that she does not hesitate calling someone out in situations like this.  He did not push it any further, and quickly gave her the tickets.
We ordered our popcorn and drinks, and ushered ourselves into the theater.
The theater was mostly empty – maybe 20 people in all.  This was likely due to the 5:10 PM start time.  The dollar theaters are noticeably less comfortable than Century Rio 24 on Pan American freeway, or Century Rio 14 in downtown Albuquerque.  The seats are low and provide an off-center viewing angle.  Also, the seats themselves are less comfortable than other theaters.
We had a very short wait until the movie previews started – perfect timing.
Horrible Bosses is a comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day.  Other notables in the movie include Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.  Horrible Bosses is a fast-paced comedic drama that moved quickly from beginning to end.  The three friends determine they share a strong hatred for their respective bosses, and devise a convoluted plan to rid themselves of their perceived problems.  We laughed throughout the movie, but I do agree that certain parts were a bit over-the-top.  I would give this movie a 3 out of 5 rating.

I haven't really seen anything exciting and new coming to a theater near me anytime soon.  What we will see next is anybody's guess!

Bob's Burgers

What to have for dinner..  We've all been struggling with colds, so I suggested a place that would serve green chile stew.  After minutes of deliberation, we decided on Bob's.  Yes, a burger joint.  Bob's Burgers serves some of the best green chile in town, and even though it's not in stew form, we knew it would fulfill our desire for hot green chile flavor.  The restaurant itself is setup with the look and feel of a 50's style diner, but the overhead speakers in the dining area were playing modern alternative rock.

The employees are usually of the teenage variety, and are rarely professional in nature.  As long as you keep this in mind before you visit you will not be disappointed.

We ordered the old fashioned burger along with green chile cheese fries.  I contemplated ordering the 'ranchero' burger, which is loaded with their famous hot green chile, but decided against it.  The chile is seriously hot, and has the potential to make the meal not so enjoyable.  I figured the green chile piled on the fries would be more than adequate, and after receiving our order I was not disappointed.  I was able to move some of the chile from my fries into the burger, and still had plenty remaining for the fries.

The food is consistently good, prepared quickly and inexpensive.  Give Bob's Burgers a try, you won't be disappointed!
